Summer Camp 2020
Session 1: Petite Picassos
If your child loves to create and get messy, then don’t miss out on this week of fun! We will focus on multi sensory experiences as campers paint with bubbles, rubber bands, vehicles, recycled “stuff”, and even their feet as they swing! Process art will be emphasized; not the “product,” like when creating crafts. We will even create through chemical reactions as we explore salt and baking soda!
Session 2: Little Einsteins
Break out the lab coats for this week filled with science! Campers will explore static electricity and use their knowledge to make butterflies flutter. They will become chemical magicians as they make eggshells disappear. Magnets and household materials will fill the sensory table. We will explore what happens when we put gummy bears in different liquids. Prepare to be wowed during this week of science camp!
Session 3: Mindful Minis
Mindfulness is being aware of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and body in the moment. Campers will learn to recognize different emotions that come their way. How do I know when I’m nervous? What does my body do to tell me? Next campers will learn strategies to cope with their feelings. We will do yoga activities, practice breathing techniques, and equip your child with exercises to work toward self regulation. We will explore our nature sensory bin, create calm down bottles, and bring home a mindfulness toolkit to help them when they feel big emotions.
Session 4: Construction Zone
How high can you make a tower out of aluminum foil? What materials work best to build a dam in a river? If your little one loves to build, this camp is made for them! Each day we will build with different materials to solve different problems. Additionally, campers will learn about different tools and construction vehicles. We will practice hammering “nails” into styrofoam, hone our fine motor skills as we use screwdrivers, and set up our own construction zone in the sensory play table. Don’t forget your hard hats!
Session 5: So You Want To Be In The Circus
Come walk the tightrope and try on some stilts. Practice balancing interesting things on your head as you perform! We will play carnival games, do an under the big top Skittle experiment, and even write and draw with ice cream cones in sprinkles! We will make a cotton candy craft and the silliest clown you can imagine during our fun filled week at circus camp.
Session 6: I Can Do It!
Do you often hear, “I need help!” coming from your preschooler as they work hard to gain independence? Campers will be taught to button, zip, and put on clothing during dress up play. Strategies to fasten and put shoes on the correct foot will be modeled. Using sensory play materials, students will practice opening and closing food containers. We’ll talk about problem solving skills, too. Come join the fun!
Session 7: Adventureland
Each day at camp, we will use our imaginations to take a new adventure! We will explore rollercoasters and create a marble coaster of our own. During our outer space adventure, we will construct edible constellations. We will learn about echolocation as we explore bats and caves. Don’t forget the treasure hunt during our pirate experience! Your camper will be bursting with enthusiasm each day during Adventureland camp!
Session 8: Down on the Farm
Look forward to singing and playing the Farmer and the Dell and Herd the Sheep with friends. Paint with corn on the cob and learn the parts you eat from different vegetables. Taste test different varieties of the same fruit and see if you can tell the difference. Dissect a flower to explore its parts. Down on the Farm camp will be jammed packed with fun and excitement for your busy preschooler!
Session 9: Diggin' the Dinos
What kid doesn’t love dinosaurs? During this camp children will learn the names and habits of different dinosaurs. Campers will create salt dough fossils and measure how big actual dinosaur body parts really were. The sensory table will be filled with Jurassic materials for students to imagine and create their own dino-centric world. We will excavate fossils that have been frozen in time and learn what a paleontologist does at work. We will even make lava-slime for our creatures to tromp through. Your camper will have many facts and tidbits of information to share after their week at camp.
Session 10: Pre-Kindergarten Summer Fun! Print...Create...Play in the Sun!
Summer is the perfect time to help your child learn and grow. We will be offering a play-based camp to prepare your little ones for a successful kindergarten experience!
